As a new international student, you may find some differences when studying in Australia compared to your home country.  Even though the same language may be spoken, there will be academic expectations and differences that might affect your success as a student despite previous levels of achievement.

You will learn about some of these difference in the Australian Academic Culture session, including what is expected from you as a UQ student and what you can expect from your teachers, such as:

  • Lecture and tutorial participation
  • The need to be a more self-directed learner
  • Assessment writing research and structure
  • Assessment schedules
  • Assignment grading criteria
  • Seeking assistance

Importantly, you will also find out what support is available for you to achieve your best at UQ.
