Welcome to the Orientation Planner!

Welcome to your orientation planner. Use this tool to help you plan workshops, information sessions and social events across UQ during O-Week and Connect Week.

To find out what is on head to the ‘find events’ tab and toggle through each category to find events and sessions specific to you. If you want to find out what is happening at each campus, change the tabs to ‘All’ then select your specific campus.

Orientation Week


    O-Week is an important step to starting university and making new friends, so make sure you get involved! Whether you are at St Lucia, Gatton or Herston, there will be something on for everyone. There are a number of compulsory and recommended sessions available for students at each campus, so be sure to find out what's on and schedule them in between social events in your orientation planner. Follow the steps below to have a successful orientation week! *Please note due to COVID-19 orientation will run both online and on campus.

      Explore the UQLife orientation webpage and complete the checklist to have a full understanding of what to expect during O-week and Connect Week

    • Attend your program sessions

      Choose your campus and Faculty on the right hand side of this page to find out what programs and sessions you need to attend.

    • Attend a Getting Started session

      Getting started sessions are compulsory for international students and highly recommended for Domestic Students. If you missed an early Getting Started session, make sure you attend one during the week.

    • International workshops and events

      If you are an international student studying online or on campus there are a number of useful workshops available to help them settle in and get ahead. Attend your compulsory workshops Getting Started and Safety in Australia and discover other workshops to help you settle in. You are also welcome to visit the International Arrival Lounge for fun events, information and place to meet.

    • Attend Market Day

      Discover hundreds of clubs, societies, programs, services and more whilst enjoying freebies, discounts and live entertainment

    • IT and eLearning sessions

      Attend these essential sessions to familiarise yourself with the learning systems you'll use every day, such as setting up Wi-Fi and your student email account.

    • Academic and personal skills sessions

      Start the semester confidently by attending workshops covering essay writing, referencing and time management.

    • UQ Library sessions

      Tours and talks to introduce you to UQ’s Library services, training and facilities.

    • Take a campus tour

      Learn more about your campus with a number of campus and venue tours

    • Visit the Welcome Hub

      The Welcome Hub at St Lucia and Gatton. Drop in daily for ongoing entertainment, information, support events and more.

    • Attend O-Week Social events

      There are a number of events for everyone to enjoy no matter where they are in the world. Check out the St Lucia O-Week Week program and the Gatton O-Week program

Connect Week


    Connect Week is all about making connections at university that last a life time. This is your opportunity to connect with your peers, teachers, clubs and societies, and a chance to try something new.

      There are a number of events for everyone to enjoy no matter where they are in the world. Check out the St Lucia Connect Week program and the Gatton Connect Week program
